Long periods of operation are possible, even with high moisture slag. The need for internal cleaning has been greatly reduced.

Raw stone is fed into the rotor (left picture, centre) and thrown out at high speed by centrifugal force.
Particles collide with the outside of the crusher chamber, which is lined with feed material, and are crushed. The surface of the chamber lining constantly replaces itself as crushing continues.
This is the principle of the Husler Impactor, for reduction, shaping and finishing of product to a superior standard. This can produce well shaped and graded fine aggregate equivalent to natural sands.
